Interactive Tech Training for Smart Teachers

Our Presenter

Presenter: Joanne Villis

Joanne Villis is a smartboard teacher who has 8 years experience with smartboards. She believes that current teachers need to provide interactive resources to cater for today’s digital learners. As a current classroom teacher, Primary ICT and smartboard coordinator at St Aloysius College, Joanne also recognizes the needs of teachers who are asked to embrace this 21st century media culture.

In 2012 Joanne will continue to embrace smartboard technology with a new twist. She will explore how smartboard technology can be incorporated into online web quests and online units of work. Joanne will begin 2012 with a trip to Canada in March to present at the Teacher2Teacher SMARTboard conference.  There will be over 50 presenters and 120 sessions. Featured speakers come from Illinois, Georgia, Maine, Australia and Scotland. Over 30 teachers from Alberta will show how they use SMARTboards and technology in their classrooms.

Joanne will then return to Adeliade to coordinate and present at Inter-tech Education’s first Smartboard and ICT Expo (April 18 & 19). She has been working closely with and mentoring other smartboard teachers (who have over 6 years experience with SMART technology) in order to prepare for the conference. Joanne is confident that her smartboard content which is linked to the Australian National Curriculum will be delivered in a professional and exciting manner.

Joanne will then be presenting at the Second National ITL Masterclass conference in Adelaide (15 & 16 June) and at the Ninth National Interactive Teaching and Learning (ITL) Conference in Sydney (9,10 & 11 August).

In 2011, Joanne continued to provide a diverse range of smartboard Professional Development training sessions for teachers, based at Rostrevor College, Woodforde, Adelaide. She has also presented at IWBNet’s Eighth National Interactive Teaching and Learning (ITL) Conference at Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School, Melbourne, Victoria and IWBNet’s Solutions Conference at Australia’s Technology Park in Sydney, NSW.

In 2010, Joanne presented at the Annual SA CEGSA conference at Flinders University, for the SA Librarian Teacher’s Association, Electro board Smart Bugs at the University of SA (Mawson Lakes) and St Gabriels School (Enfield). She has also presented a wide range
subject specific IWB content, including: Primary and Secondary Maths, Primary Connections (Primary Science), Early Years Literacy and Numeracy, Primary Music and Secondary Languages.
