Unexpected: Inter-tech Education 2 day conference cancellation

By Jo

Rostrevor College is highly supportive of the Professional Development that Inter-tech Education delivers in the way of smartboard training. The College has enjoyed a wonderful working relationship and will continue the connection with Inter-tech Education well into the future. Inter-tech Education sessions are informative, professional and most importantly relevant to all teachers.

Unfortunately, due to the unexpected timing of a programmed major systems upgrade, Rostrevor College will not be able to offer its facilities to cater for Inter-tech Education’s 2 day conference. Therefore, it is most regrettable that the conference will be cancelled. A full refund will be provided by Inter-tech Education for delegates who have already confirmed registration.

Please accept our apologies. Both Rostrevor College and Inter-tech Education  endeavour to cater for 21st century learners through new system upgrades, smartboard technology and teacher professional development.

SMART Notebook 11 and 4 user interactivity, sensational!

By Jo

I have a new SB800 dual touch series and I absolutely love it. I recommend that if schools are purchasing new smartboards to spend that little bit extra. Why? Refer to my post on smart board revolution.

Amanda Myton also pointed me in the direction of an article by SMART which states that with the new Notebook upgrade, users of the SB 800 series will have up to 4 points of touch, that is 4 students at the board at the same time!   Furthermore, this feature comes with no additional cost or hardware. For further information visit SMART Media Release. I can’t wait.

I have embedded one of Hillary’s video tutorials below on how to use Pinterest. Visit Hillary’s website or Hilary’s you tube channel for great video tutorials.

Treasure Explorer

By Jo

Treasure Explorer   has information, virtual galleries and interactive activities about early settlement, colonial life, twentieth century and movers or shakers.  This is a great resource for smartboards and the site fits in nicely with the Australian National Curriculum History component. Students can sign up for free which enables them to share their own treasures, create their own virtual gallery, collect their favourite treasures in their backpack and leave comments for other explorer. However, students are required to provide their email address, therefore students under the age of 13 cannot sign up.

NGA Kids (free interactive art resources)

By Jo

NGA kids is a fantastic interactive Art site for students. Not only can students create but they can animate, save (as a jpg) and or print their art work. The stite can be modelled on a smartboard, used by small groups on a smartboard or accessed individual on a PC. There are a range of activities but here are a few of my favourites:

Sea-Saws enables students to select photographs of natural and man-made objects, then assemble the pieces to create a seascape or an abstract composition.

Faces and Places is a two part interactive activity which contains more than 100 elements of paintings that enables students to create portraits, landscapes, or genre scenes of daily life.

PhotoOp Snapper is an interactive activity that introduces students to photography and photo editing.
BRUSHster is an online painting machine.
In Dutch is an interactive doll house inspired by 17-century Dutch paintings
